Today, I welcome mystery romance author Elizabeth Delisi , whose latest release, Fatal Fortune , is published through Tirgearr Publishing , a fab new electronic publisher. Elizabeth has kindly offered a free e-copy of Fatal Fortune to one lucky commenter. Simply leave your comment below to be in the draw. Good luck! Handing over... Hi! I’m Elizabeth Delisi, and I write in several genres or a mix of more than one: mystery, paranormal, romance and suspense. You can find out more about my books at my website, www.elizabethdelisi.com . I live in beautiful New Hampshire with my husband and bossy parakeet. My Place:  We’ve lived in many of the fifty US states in my life, which is a lucky thing for a writer. Lots of fodder for the imagination! I’ve lived in several of the plains states in the Midwest, and was fascinated by the flat landscape where you can see for miles in every direction. Really makes you feel small! And you get the most gorgeous, colorful sunsets and vibra

Romance Author Alana Lorens at My Place

Image
Yes, I know, it's Thursday, not the usual My Place Sunday. But life would be boring without surprises, eh? And I have a surprise in store for you. Today's guest is romance author Alana Lorens who takes us on a tour of Pittsburgh in a wonderfully descriptive post. A real treat! Over to Alana! Pittsburgh—more than just football and beer The Pittsburgh Lady Lawyer series debuted this month, with CONVICTION OF THE HEART and SECOND CHANCES, two very different lawyers who practice in the same wonderful city. Why Pittsburgh? First and foremost, because it’s handy to where I live here in northwestern Pennsylvania, and we’ve been there many times. But secondly, it’s because the city is a wonderful canvas on which to display a story. Pittsburgh is a city of neighborhoods and great diversity ( map of neighborhoods ). From east-end staple Squirrel Hill, home of a large Jewish community (and once upon a time, Mister Rogers, too), to the downtown skyscrapers to

Welcome Elysa Hendricks, romance author

Image
Today, I welcome fellow romance author, Elysa Hendricks to My Place. I love the photos she's sharing with us. The wild countryside is so inspiring. Enjoy! Elysa Hendricks is 5'6" tall. She has curly hair and brown eyes. She's an author, a wife, a mother and a daughter. The rest is too boring to mention and is subject to change without notice. In addition to writing gritty western historical romances, Elysa also likes to spend time in the present with her contemporary romances, visits the future in her sci-fi romances and dreams up other worlds in her fantasy romances. My Place: THIS HEART FOR HIRE is set in Southwest Texas during the early 1870's.

Dark Deceit now in Paperback

Image
I'm so thrilled! My 5* historical novel, Dark Deceit , is now available in paperback on Amazon. ~happy dance~ My publisher is finally going Print on Demand, so my baby is now available for a whole new range of readers - those who prefer to hold an actual book in their hands, turning the pages one by one. I hope those readers will enjoy Dark Deceit . Blurb: On his return from battle at Lincoln, Geoffrey de Mortagne, under-sheriff of Gloucester and spy for the Empress Matilda, assists a dying knight caught in an ambush. Promising to look after the welfare of the knight’s only daughter, Geoffrey stays at her manor, investigating the murder. Keen to join the Empress on her progress through England, he is torn between his oath and his duty. Left to defend her manor following her father’s death, Alleyne de Bellac reluctantly accepts Geoffrey’s support. As she doesn’t trust the taciturn stranger, she asks Will d’Arques, an old friend, for help. But loyalties change. Her life in

Welcome romance author D'Ann Lindun

Image
Today, I'm hosting fellow romance author, D'Ann Lindun . If you - like me - love cowboys, you're in for a treat! ;-) Falling in love with romance novels the summer before sixth grade, D’Ann Lindun never thought about writing one until many years later when she took a how-to class at her local college. She was hooked! She began writing and never looked back. Romance appeals to her because there's just something so satisfying about writing a book guaranteed to have a happy ending. D’Ann’s particular favorites usually feature cowboys and the women who love them. This is probably because she draws inspiration from the area where she lives, Western Colorado, her husband of twenty-nine years and their daughter. Composites of their small farm, herd of horses, five Australian shepherds, a Queensland heeler, eight ducks and cats of every shape and color often show up in her stories!  So, to discover more about D'Ann, I've asked her a few questions. 1.  Wha

Welcome Rose McClelland, chick-lit & women's fiction author

Image
Today, we have something to smile about. Nope, not sunshine, just a wonderful excerpt from Belfast based chick-lit and women's fiction author, Rose McClelland . Last week, Rose celebrated the release of her second ebook, How to Look like You . Like her first novel, the  best-selling   The Break-Up Test , it has garnered an array of outstanding reviews. So, I thought I'd give Rose a shout-out here. I hope you enjoy the taster below. Blurb: Have you ever had a frenemy? Someone you smile at sweetly but secretly you are filled with jealousy? Meet Chloe and Ella. While Chloe sees herself as dowdy, quiet and going nowhere, Ella is brimming with talents: acting, singing, and outward-sitting, bronzed boobs. Yet, Ella envies Chloe’s steady relationship with Aidan, her stick-thin figure and her perfectly poised style. As a result, Ella feels overweight, over-single and over-the-hill. As Ella begins to work alongside Aidan, she develops feelings she shouldn’t have. When

Silent Deception - An Excerpt

Image
After climbing the 'Gothic Romance' charts at Amazon earlier this week, Silent Deception , my romantic historical novella, needs some TLC. So here's another snippet... Blurb: Having inherited a family estate she’d never heard of, Minerva Goodridge travels to Cornwall to take charge of her new home. But fatal memories lurk in the shadows of Trekellis Manor. As the locals keep away from the house, Minnie accepts the help of a stranger. Can she trust him? Gideon Drake, 8th Earl of Rothdale, is on a mission to uncover a family secret linked to Trekellis Manor. But the arrival of Minerva, the new owner, disrupts his investigation. Attracted to the headstrong heiress, he decides to take action - and ends up uncovering more than he expected. Gideon must weigh up his family’s reputation against Minnie’s, but will the revelations tear them apart? Excerpt: I think you should leave now.   Minnie remembered her words to Gideon Drake as she pummeled the pillow

A Novel in a Week?

Wow! Cosy crime (and fellow Crooked Cat Publishing) author,  David W Robinson , is attempting a gruelling challenge:  Write a novel in a week! When I asked him about it, this is what he had to say: Here’s a stupid idea. I’m going to write a novel in week. So when you’ve all stopped laughing and questioning my sanity, you’ll ask why. The answer is… because I’m bored. It’s not a bet and it’s not for charity, it’s just to see whether or not I can do it. I begin next Monday morning, July 9th 2012, and work through to Sunday 15th , and at the end of that seven days, I expect to have 60,000-70,000 words written. Not a publishable novel, just a good first draft. And if I get there, what happens to the finished project? At some stage I’ll bring it up to spec and Crooked Cat will get first refusal. If they don’t want it, I’ll probably self-publish. Would you like to follow my progress? Aside from writing over 10,000 words a day , I’ll also be blogging my expl

Welcome Lillie Spencer, Romance Author

Image
Today, I refuse to comment about the poor weather. Long given up the hope for sunshine. So, on a brighter side, I welcome fellow romance author, Lillie Spencer. I've set her a few questions to find out more about her writing life, and her romantic suspense, Manhunt . Welcome, Lillie! 1. How did you get into writing? Have you always wanted to be a writer? My mom recently gave me a velvet covered journal of mine from elementary school that I had filled with poems and short stories, so I suppose it's always been in my blood.  It's my passion, my sanctuary.  I'd written countless stories before I worked up the courage to submit Manhunt . 2. Your release, Manhunt, sounds intriguing. What was your inspiration for the plot? I know it sounds completely clichĂ©, but it just came to me.  I was actually sketching out a paranormal romance at the time, and Manhunt popped into my head and wouldn't let go until I wrote it.  It was the first time I'd written ro
